Yin Yang Bear Hug

'Yin Yang Bear Hug'
© 2016 by Shiloh Moore
In July 2016 I saw a photo of a black and a white cat creating a heart with their tails, which inspired my drawing 'Yin Yang Love Cats.'   I then went on to draw black and white birds creating a yin yang symbol, in the post 'Yin Yang Birdies.'  (Click the links to see my previous posts)

A year ago I bought an awesome t-shirt on Threadless,  'Huggers' by freehand.dk (click here to see it)  It has a white bear hugging a black bear, using the black negative space of the t-shirt for the black bear.  I think it's incredibly clever.

Recently a young friend, Sophie wore that same shirt in her smaller size - so cute! It reminded me how much I love the image, and inspired me to draw a similar bear hug, but using the bears to create a Yin Yang symbol.

So 'Yin Yang Bear Hug' was born!

I woke from a dream saying the words 'laugh, love, live'.  I love those words!  So I drew them in a way you can colour in.

Yin Yang Birdies

5"x5" Pitt Pen on Paper

In April I woke from a dream and scribbled this design in a pad of paper by my bed.  I recently discovered it and thought it was cool!  So I drew a good copy using pitt pens.  I love the connection between black and white, night and day, sleepy and awake/healthy and tired.  I like how the bottom, white, 'healthy' birdie seems to happily carry the snoozing black birdie.  They help each other out and go together well.  Yin and yang.  I really like this one.

Hair!

'Hair!'

Pitt Pen on Paper

After drawing the outline to 'Woman of Lines' (click to see previous post), I experimented with changing her hair!

The middle image, of long hair was the original style, then I drew the left style in a bob, then the right curly style.  It's amazing how different a hairstyle changes the look!

Take time out
Smell the flowers
Appreciate the beauty.
Look within
To the place it touches
And Love Yourself

'Emma Dean'

This is a small painting I did, a 5" x 5" mini Acrylic on Canvas portrait of the wonderful miss Emma Dean. Emma is a talented singer/songwriter/pop cabaret performer. I have had the privilege of getting to know her as a friend, and seeing her perform.

This portrait comes from a photo of Emma Dean with guitarist Nathan Moore, taken by Nick Shears at the Green Earth Festival on Sat 13 March 2010.

My favourite song by Emma Dean can be found on YouTube:
