I continued my Spiral Animal Series including:

This deer and bird were inspired by Kaiser Craft's 'Hummingbird' collection of papers.

It feels great to have been able to paint again.

Reindeer

'Reindeer'

(Painted 9/6/12)
8"x12" Acrylic and Permanent Marker on Canvas

I drew a tiny drawing of this reindeer years ago, and rediscovered it looking through my art journals.

I first re-drew it in January and added the colours in the green and red prints below.

I know it's not Christmas, but I'd rather paint now as I feel inspired, so I painted the above canvas with red, white and green acrylic paints, and then drew the line drawing of the reindeer in permanent marker.

So here's some reindeer - just in time for 'Christmas in July' I guess!

'Circle of Life'

'Circle of Life' A4 Watercolour on paper, (c) 2012 by Shiloh Moore

This image has been bubbling in my mind for months. It has been begging to be created. I drew it with Pitt Pen while lying down, then worked on it with watercolours sitting up for short spurts, then resting in between. I imagined a curvaceous tree at the heart of a circle of life, home to a wise owl, a bird, a lizard, a spider with its web. Surrounded on the ground by flowers, a deer, butterflies and a dragonfly in the air, all being enjoyed by a little girl with pigtails on a swing. Innocence, life, beauty, joy, nature. Happiness.

'Fawn'

'Fawn' pencil drawing on paper
(c) 27/3/12 by Shiloh Moore

I was looking through photos of animals and came across pictures of fawns (baby deer). I've always been attracted to deer and fawns for some reason. I was inspired to do this little scribble.

I tried to see if I could find information about fawns to see if there could be a more interesting reason for drawing one today. Nothing profound, but interestingly Wikipedia told me:
'In the first twenty minutes of a fawn's life, the fawn begins to take its first steps.'
and
'The fawn stays hidden in the grass for one week until it is strong enough to walk with its mother.'
