2016 has been a defining year for me.  It has been tough, challenging, but in the end creative and fulfilling.  The word that I feel as I go into 2017 is HOPE.

A friend gave me some coloured sharpie markers for Christmas - ooooh love!  So here is my first go to try them out.  I was looking at Typography (making art from words) and Zentangle techniques and came up with my own doodles of flowers, animals and nature.

It makes me think of a wise phrase a wonderful friend who is chronically ill said to me: 'Where there is life there is Hope'

If you look hard, you will find these signs of life:
- A 4 leaf clover
- Flowers
- Leaves
- Grass
- A grasshopper
- Ferns
- A chameleon
- A dandelion
- A daisy
- A dragonfly
- A rose
- A caterpillar
- A coccoon
- A butterfly
- A ladybug
- A birdie
- A bumblebee

May your life be filled with HOPE

Zentangle Part 1: Dove

"Zentangle Dove"
© 2015 By Shiloh Moore
31/5/15

I haven't done any new drawing or painting in almost a year.  I've had a crazy time with my health and most of the time have not been well enough to create, plus I have not been feeling particularly inspired, so I did not want to push it.

One of my awesome doctors recently gave me an 'important prescription' - a colouring in book for adults, to gently get me back in the zone, with no pressure, and to just have fun.  The next day, another friend recommended I google 'Zentangle Art' and get into awesome creative doodling.  I've never been much of a doodler - I have mind blanks and put too much pressure on myself to not make a mistake!  But I thought I'd give it a try.
So my first attempt I used the outline of my doves in 'Be Free' (ByShi Blogpost Feb 12 2012) which I used again in 'Dove Tree Mandala' (ByShi Blogpost Sept 23 2012).
I was not well enough to sit for long to do this, so I lay on my side and drew in the way I illustrated in my post 'Living With ME and FM Series - Lying Down' (ByShi Blogpost Jan 18 2012).

This was my first attempt at Zentangle and I thoroughly enjoyed it.  Later that day I tried 'Zentangle Part 2: Dachshund', which I will upload soon, so stay tuned!!!

Take time out
Smell the flowers
Appreciate the beauty.
Look within
To the place it touches
And Love Yourself

'Circle of Life'

'Circle of Life' A4 Watercolour on paper, (c) 2012 by Shiloh Moore

This image has been bubbling in my mind for months. It has been begging to be created. I drew it with Pitt Pen while lying down, then worked on it with watercolours sitting up for short spurts, then resting in between. I imagined a curvaceous tree at the heart of a circle of life, home to a wise owl, a bird, a lizard, a spider with its web. Surrounded on the ground by flowers, a deer, butterflies and a dragonfly in the air, all being enjoyed by a little girl with pigtails on a swing. Innocence, life, beauty, joy, nature. Happiness.
